Wordpress 2.7 and Custom page template Issue
December 16th, 2008Posted by brajesh
It has been around a week since wordpress 2.7 was released. As I mentioned In my previous posts,It has a great admin interface but full with quirks. There are many things that needs attentions, but here I will discuss just one.
If you are using a custom theme(not the default theme which ships with wordpress),and your theme has some custom Page templates, there are possibilities, you might have already noticed this unwanted behavior.
Wordpress 2.7 does not show your custom Page templates by default on your page edit/create screen. The Page templates working before may become inaccessible now,in your page edit window.
I just looked around, and wondered ,then I found something like very wiered solution.
If you swith to the default wordpress theme, and then switch back your theme, now if you go to edit/create page, the page templates become accessible. That’s not the expected behavior, but any how,Thank God!,It’s working seamlessly after that.
If you have also found the same issue, and found some better solution, please consider mentioning using the below comment form.

That is truly bizarre behavior, but I’d also like to certify that it works. It was looking like the only way to change the custom template associated with a page was to get directly into the database. Thanks for sharing!
